The "Defense of Marriage Act," the insane war on recreational drugs, sky-rocketing prices for prescription drugs, anti-gay ballot measurers in dozens of states, limitations on women's reproductive choices, no anti-bias bill, corporate media control, "don't ask, don't tell" in the military, increasing loss of rights under the rationale of anti-terrorism, a Supreme Court illegally insuring its own succession, war against the Iraqi people and the only western democracy without national healthcare.

The Green Party of the United States repudiates all those positions and supports the Lavender Greens Caucus, by endorsing the following positions:

Same-sex Marriages
THE GREEN PARTY supports marriage laws that allow same-sex couples. Greens demand freedom of kinship-the right of Americans to live and love as they see fit.

Medical Marijuana & Needle Exchange
THE GREEN PARTY says yes to federal funding for needle exchange. Greens oppose the exaggerated and racially biased 'war on drugs.'

Low-Cost AIDS Drugs
THE GREEN PARTY protested threats from the Clinton Administration against South Africa and other African, Asian, and Latin American nations for offering low-cost AIDS drugs.

Equal Rights
THE GREEN PARTY supports the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people to equal access to affordable housing, living wage jobs, civil marriage and benefits, child custody, immigration rights, education, and in all areas, the right to equality of life with all other people.

Anti-gay bias in the Military
THE GREEN PARTY demands an end to all anti-gay discrimination in the military.

Abortion rights
THE GREEN PARTY calls abortion a decision to be made by a woman with the assistance of her physician. Feminism is a basic principle of the Green Party.

Civil Liberties
THE GREEN PARTY upholds and exercises the right of dissent. Greens oppose the corporate domination of our media. Greens oppose any restriction of human rights, citizenship, or privacy because of HIV status or sexuality. Anti-racism is a basic principle of the Green Party.

Universal Health Care
THE GREEN PARTY demands national health insurance under a single-payer system-quality universal covering every American regardless of income, age, residence, or prior medical condition. The Green Party and its candidates accept no contributions from HMO, insurance, pharmaceutical or other corporations or their lobbies.

Democracy
THE GREEN PARTY supports proportional representation, instant run-off voting, public campaign financing and other reforms that increase the democratic access to power of all parties and groups-including gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered Americans. Greens demand inclusion of third parties and independents in political debates and other public forums, and an end to laws-designed by Democrats and Republicans in collusion-that hinder third party and independent candidates from running for public office.

Peace
The Green Party is the Peace Party! -- Democrats put the vote over the top to surrender Congress's constitutional power to declare war over to President Bush. Green congressional candidates have vigorously criticized the Bush Administration's anti-constitutional plans to invade Iraq, its use of threats against national security as an excuse to attack basic constitutional rights and protections, and the timidity of Democrats. Democratic votes, with one exception in the Senate, voted to pass the USA PATRIOT Act.

The Green Party wants the U.S. to adhere to the Constitution and to international law. We urge international negotiation-not to bribe and threaten other countries into supporting Bush/'s illegal invasion plans, but to find nonviolent solutions and save human lives.
